RED MULBERRY TOWN the most famous Baokun Show

RED MULBERRY TOWN This is a story about the piety of the great Bao Zheng, a well-known civil servant of the Song Dynasty (960-1126 AD). Bao Zheng was an orphan raised by his sister-in-law Wu Miaozhen along with her own son Bao Mian. The young uncle and nephew grew up to be important civil officials. Bao Zhang, however, had to execute his nephew on account of the latter's serious violations of the civil servants' code. And he was perceived by his sister-in-law, the woman who brought him up, as ungrateful and unforgivable. Reconciliation was reached in Red Mulberry Town where Bao Zheng explained to his sister-in-law the crimes of Bao Mian and his own agony of having to put one of his own family to death. There are numerous peking opera shows which features Bao Zheng's well known trial stories.
