香港中文大學古琴展

Dear All: One advantage of working in HK is to be near Chinese musical sources and activities. During the past couple of years, I've been involved with qin music research. One major project is an exhibition of qin instruments. In conjunction with the exhibition is the publication of the catalogue and a CD. Below are information on these two items for those who are interested. I apologize for double posting to some of you. Bell Yung ________ The Department of Music and the University Museum and Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong collaborated on an exhibition on the Chinese instrument qin entitled " Gems of Ancient Chinese Zithers" at the University Museum (10/14 to 12/5) in which fifty instruments, with the oldest dating to Northern Song dynasty (960-1127), are shown. The exhibition catalogue, edited by Bell Yung and published by the University Museum, is a 150-page oversized book (10"x13.5") with eight essays (in Chinese with English summaries) and over one hundred color plates with notes in Chinese and English. Contributors are Shum Hing-shun, Zheng Minzhong, Lau Chor-wah, Tse Chun-yan, Sou Si-tai, Au Siu-kam, Georges Goormaghtigh, and Bell Yung. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy please send your name, address, phone, email, and a check or money order of US$32 (US$25 plus $7 for handling and sea mail postage) made payable to "The University of Hong Kong" to: University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong, Bonham Road, Hong Kong; Phone (852) 2975-5600; Fax (852) 2975-5610; E-mail . Those interested in airmail service please contact the number s or email above. Specially recorded in conjunction with the exhibition is a CD entitled "Qin Music on Antique Instruments," produced by Bell Yung and published by the Music Department of the University of Hong Kong. The twelve qin pieces on the CD, totaling 67 minutes, are all played on antique instruments shown in the exhibition. Performers are Lau Chor-wah, Shum Hing-shun, Sou Si-tai, Tse Chun-yan, and Bell Yung. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy please send your name, address, phone, email, and a check or money order of US$15 (US$12 plus $3 for handling and airmail postage) made payable to "The University of Hong Kong" to: Irene Lai, Department of Music, The University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam Road, Hong Kong; Phone (852) 2859-7045; Fax (852) 2858-4933; E-mail .
